Job summary

Vermeer Corporation in Iowa is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to support production processes and drive operational excellence. You’ll gain hands-on experience in lean manufacturing, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration, preparing you for a full-time engineering role after graduation.

You’ll work with engineering, welding, assembly, and machining teams to identify improvements, apply JIT and Kaizen, document workflows with value stream mapping, and assist with tooling

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field.
• Foundational lean manufacturing and process improvement knowledge.
• Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and implement process improvements to boost quality and efficiency.
• Support new product introductions with engineering, welding, assembly and machining teams.
• Apply lean principles including JIT and Kaizen to reduce waste.
• Document current and future state processes using value stream mapping and standard work.
• Assist in tooling/fixture design and learn digital work instruction platforms.
• Contribute to PLM/ECN documentation using Teamcenter or Windchill.
• Participate in data-driven decision making using ERP systems and Power BI dashboards.
