Job summary

Onward Search is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Engineering to lead the design and optimization of manufacturing processes for a power distribution equipment client. This in-office, full-time role emphasizes process excellence, PFMEA, control plans, and cross-functional collaboration with Product Engineering.

The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years in high-volume manufacturing, strong Lean/Six Sigma experience, and a track record mentoring engineering teams to deliver scalable, quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in manufacturing process development and process engineering.
• Deep familiarity with PFMEA, control plans, process routings, and work instruction ownership.
• Proven ability to lead formal process reviews and mentor engineering teams.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, ideally with switchgear or power distribution equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and optimization of manufacturing processes, routings, and work instructions to ensure efficient production.
• Review and approve process documentation, such as PFMEAs, control plans, and process routings, establishing process standards.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering to improve product design for manufacturability and seamless production transition.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and Six Sigma practices, to enhance throughput, yield, and quality.
• Oversee process validation, tooling, and automation plans, ensuring capacity and capability growth.
