Job summary

ONWARD SEARCH is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Engineering for a leading manufacturing company in California. This on-site role leads the design and improvement of manufacturing workflows for switchboard and switchgear products, while supervising engineering teams to ensure execution excellence.

The successful candidate will drive process development, mentor engineers, collaborate with Product Engineering on manufacturability, and uphold quality standards through Lean and Six Sigma

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 8 years of progressive process engineering experience, with hands-on involvement in process development.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, process documentation, and control plans.
• Experience leading process reviews, mentoring teams, and managing engineering budgets.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PFMEA, SPC, and manufacturing standards like UL 891, NEC, and ANSI.

Responsibilities

• Personally design, document, and enhance manufacturing workflows, layouts, and work instructions.
• Lead process reviews, critique process designs, and enforce quality standards.
• Coach and develop manufacturing engineers and technicians in process methodologies and problem-solving techniques.
• Oversee the manufacturing engineering team, including hiring and performance management.
• Collaborate closely with Product Engineering on manufacturability and design feedback.
