Job summary

Intuitive Surgical in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer to design, develop, and deploy equipment for testing, measuring, and delivering precision instruments for minimally invasive robotic surgery. You will collaborate with software teams to refine electro-mechanical components, tooling, and test methods to improve efficacy, reliability, manufacturability and cost.

You will lead high-volume production line improvements, implement fixtures, analyze data, and ensure quality

Qualifications

• Strong communication with cross-functional teams including product development, planning, regulatory, and customer support.
• Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience managing product and process changes.
• Excellent organizational skills for fast-paced projects.
• Experience with technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and improve high-volume manufacturing assembly lines with BOMs, workflows, and detailed instructions.
• Design, procure, qualify, and implement fixtures, tools, and equipment including hardware and software.
• Analyze data trends to root cause equipment issues ensuring reliability and repeatability.
• Modify equipment drawings and implement updates for large scale production lines.
• Perform PFMEA risk analysis for instrument manufacturing.
• Validate manufacturing equipment and processes per IQ/OQ/DQ/PQ.
• Provide day-to-day production line support and resolve issues.
• Lead continuous improvement projects to boost yield, cycle time, reliability, and cost reduction.
• Provide DFx input to improve manufacturability of core instruments.
• Maintain compliance with medical device quality systems and disposition of discrepancies.
