Job summary

Intuitive Surgical in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a multiport test engineer to enable manufacturing of a new generation of robotic subsystems.

You’ll develop automated manufacturing tests and diagnostic software to calibrate, verify performance, and ensure safety of robot subsystems, collaborating with product teams, systems analysts, electrical test fixture engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and contract manufacturers.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of hardware-oriented software development with a bachelor’s degree (or 3 years with a master’s degree).
Experience developing or testing robotic or electro-mechanical systems, including control systems and mechatronics.
Experience with design and development of Windows PC or Web user interfaces.
Proficient in object-oriented Python.
Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to drive projects to completion.
Strong problem solving skills and excellent verbal and written communications.
Intellectually curious and passionate with high emotional intelligence and people skills.

Responsibilities

Own manufacturing test fixtures, software, and test system quality.
Develop a deep technical understanding of product operation, control and testing algorithms.
Design, document, and qualify systems and test software for use in manufacturing new robot subsystems.
Work independently to overcome roadblocks with minimum guidance.
Troubleshoot production line issues.
Improve the manufacturing test capability through new technology, software and analytics.
