Job summary

Intuitive Surgical in Sunnyvale, CA, seeks a Manufacturing Manager to lead a growing engineering team focused on high-volume automation for minimally invasive robotic surgery. You will drive design-for-manufacturing, validate equipment, and coordinate with global teams to deliver reliable production lines.

The role requires 5–7 years in manufacturing/automation, strong leadership, and experience in ISO 13485 environments.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent; MS preferred.
• 5–7 years’ experience in process/manufacturing with automated production systems.
• Experience in ISO 13485/medical device manufacturing is a plus.
• Role is onsite in Sunnyvale, CA with travel ~30%.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team to develop, implement, and sustain automated manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Collaborate with international teams to deliver products in a high-volume environment.
• Design and develop next-gen manufacturing architecture with internal and external resources.
• Create and improve mid- to high-volume lines, BOMs, workflows, and work instructions.
• Apply automation control and robot manufacturing experience to ensure yield, MTTR, and OEE targets.
• Lead DFx inputs during product design and develop fixtures, tools, and equipment.
• Manage validation/qualification of equipment using IQ/OQ/DQ/PQ.
• Provide day-to-day production line support and issue resolution.
• Drive continuous improvement for yield, cycle time, reliability, and cost.
• Coach engineers, manage suppliers to timelines, and handle contracting activities.
