Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to translate piping and HVAC designs into detailed, shop-floor-ready work instructions for autonomous surface vessels. You will define spools, subassemblies, and installation sequencing while ensuring compliance with fabrication methods and safety codes.

You will collaborate with design, scheduling, quality, and waterfront teams to produce buildable, station-by-station work packages and continuously improve standard work across the program.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in marine piping and/or HVAC trades or equivalent planning background.
• Understanding of pipe fabrication methods (bending, threading, welding, flanging) and HVAC ductwork fabrication/installation.
• Knowledge of shipbuilding processes: unit/block construction, erection sequence, zone outfitting.
• Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, 3D models, and layout drawings.
• Strong written communication to produce clear, unambiguous work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Break piping and HVAC systems into spools/subassemblies based on build strategy and access constraints.
• Define how subassemblies integrate into units, blocks, and the completed ship.
• Determine fabrication sequence, hanger locations, insulation/coating requirements.
• Develop detailed, step-by-step work instructions for fabrication, assembly, and installation crews.
• Incorporate applicable codes (ABS, USCG, NAVSEA) into work packages.
• Coordinate with design engineering, scheduling, quality, and waterfront production to reflect yard capability.
• Identify constructability issues and resolve interferences before they reach the floor.
• Support first-article builds and walk the work with mechanics and leads.
• Maintain documentation standards for piping/HVAC packages across the program.
