Job summary

Instron is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our Binghamton, NY facility to support CNC machining, assembly, and system integration. You will drive NPI and production support, collaborate across engineering, production, quality, and supply chain, and work toward operational excellence.

The role requires hands-on machining experience, CAD proficiency, and a track record of optimizing manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
• 6–8+ years hands-on experience in machining and/or mechanical assembly.
• Knowledge of turning, milling, drilling, and grinding processes.
• Familiarity with metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, CMMs).
• CAD experience (SolidWorks or similar).
• Understanding of GD&T, PLM, and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the manufacturing liaison between Engineering and Production for NPI and sustaining engineering.
• Provide manufacturability input, part setup guidance, and production planning support.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes focusing on quality, efficiency, and cost optimization.
• Troubleshoot machining and mechanical assembly challenges with data-driven solutions.
• Design and document fixtures, tooling, and gauges for machining, inspection, and assembly.
