Job summary

Atkore International seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Kokomo, IN operations, reporting to the Engineering Manager. You will develop and troubleshoot product lines across design, material, and process, collaborating with contractors and end users to achieve PPAP acceptance and cost improvements.

The role requires a hands-on engineer with 3–5 years in manufacturing, proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related field of study.
• Three plus years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Aptitude in AutoCAD / SolidWorks.
• Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in product and service sales and knowledge of technology.
• Excellent communication, presentation skills, and analytical skills.
• Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base.
• Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.

Responsibilities

• Work as a hands-on Engineer developing and troubleshooting product lines as related to design, material, or process.
• Responsible for working directly with the contractor and end user to design, build and gain PPAP customer acceptance by explaining and demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.
• Provide technical mechanical input and understanding of maintenance and operations by enhancing total preventative maintenance programs on existing machinery.
• Support the Maintenance team by helping to improve equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and optimizing maintenance processes.
• Document concepts, designs, and processes and generate written protocols and reports.
• Determine product specifications, evaluating products according to specifications and quality standards to improve or implement manufacturing processes.
• Conduct time and movement studies, review and analyze processes and methods and other work measurements activities.
• Interface with the manufacturing team to prototype and build custom solutions for customers.
• Drive New Product Development by managing and contributing to projects, including interaction with sales and customers, reviewing new product drawings, aligning capabilities, justifying capital spend, and providing technical support during production.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; advising customers on product, service, or equipment adherence to requirements.
