Job summary

Vermeer Corporation in Piedmont, SC is seeking an Engineer I – Manufacturing to support cross-functional teams, improve production processes, enhance product quality, and implement sustainable practices aligned with Vermeer’s continuous improvement values.

You will apply lean principles, work with PLM/ECN systems, and leverage ERP, Power BI, and IoT tools to drive data-driven decisions and safer, more efficient manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, tooling design, and reading technical drawings.
• Ability to understand manufacturing and internal customer needs to deliver practical solutions.
• Familiarity with JIT manufacturing and reading schematics.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with manufacturing, product development and lifecycle/aftermarket teams to identify and implement process improvements.
• Apply lean principles to reduce waste and support JIT production and Kaizen events.
• Interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics to support assembly and welding.
• Design and optimize tooling and fixtures; use digital work instructions to boost efficiency and safety.
• Use PLM/ECN systems to manage changes and BOM updates; maintain documentation.
• Support data-driven decisions with ERP, Power BI dashboards, and IoT-enabled monitoring.
