Job summary

The Richmond Group USA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading heavy-manufacturing organization in Roanoke, VA. You will design tooling, improve machining and assembly processes, and lead equipment upgrades from concept through implementation.

You will collaborate with operations, product engineering, and the automation team to boost quality, increase capacity, and modernize manufacturing while providing practical work instructions and on-the-floor training.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of industrial manufacturing experience, preferably in heavy manufacturing.
• 4+ years designing manufacturing tooling, equipment, or specialized machines.
• Hands-on experience with machining and assembly processes, equipment troubleshooting, and production support.
• Experience managing equipment projects from concept through implementation.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks, and knowledge of GD&T.
• Strong communication skills; PDM/PLM, automation, and Lean manufacturing experience are a plus.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Improve machining and assembly processes and lead machine upgrades from concept through implementation.
• Design tooling and equipment in collaboration with operations, product engineering, and the site’s automation team.
• Improve quality, increase capacity, and modernize manufacturing.
• Develop practical work instructions and provide hands-on training.
• Manage drawing and revision control to support production.
