Job summary

The Richmond Group USA helps an expanding manufacturing client in the Richmond, Virginia area identify a Manufacturing Engineer focused on improving equipment, processes, reliability, and overall manufacturing performance.

This hands-on role is on-site and involves troubleshooting on the floor, driving root cause actions, and leading capital projects from concept through implementation, with emphasis on continuous improvement and collaboration with operators, maintenance, and production

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Hands-on mechanical, automation, and industrial equipment knowledge.
  • Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience.
  • Experience managing capital/expense projects from concept to start-up.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight timelines.
  • Experience designing tooling, fixtures, or manufacturing layouts.
  • Familiarity with TPM, predictive maintenance, and CI methodologies.
  • Strong communication and teamwork with operators and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes on the manufacturing floor.
  • Drive root cause corrective actions to sustain improvements.
  • Lead capital and expense projects from concept through installation, training, startup, and handoff.
  • Design or improve tooling, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing layouts.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING | CAPITAL PROJECTS | CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

The TRG Growth Practice is excited to be partnering with a growing manufacturing client to identify a Manufacturing Engineer for a key operation in the Richmond, Virginia area. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a stable organization experiencing exciting growth and take on a highly visible engineering role focused on improving equipment, processes, reliability, and overall manufacturing performance.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on engineer who wants to be close to the manufacturing floor and enjoys solving real‑world technical challenges alongside operators, maintenance, and production leadership. You’ll have the opportunity to troubleshoot equipment and process issues, drive root cause corrective actions, design tooling and fixtures, and lead capital and expense projects from concept through implementation. Just as importantly, you'll help build a culture of continuous improvement by engaging the people closest to the process and turning their ideas into sustainable solutions.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred
  • Strong hands‑on understanding of mechanical systems, automation, and industrial manufacturing equipment
  • Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience with the ability to drive sustainable corrective actions
  • Experience managing capital and expense projects from concept and justification through installation, training, startup, and handoff
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and priorities while maintaining ownership of timelines and results
  • Experience designing or improving tooling, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing layouts
  • Familiarity with TPM, predictive maintenance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage operators, maintenance technicians, engineering, and plant leadership
  • Hands‑on, resourceful mindset with a willingness to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor identifying and implementing improvements
