Job summary

Textron is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer intern in Slidell, Louisiana. You will collaborate with engineering to evaluate production tooling, develop process plans, and help translate designs into manufacturable parts.

This hands-on role provides exposure to shop floor operations and real project work under experienced mentors. The internship runs 10 weeks, paid with a stipend; you will receive mentorship, training, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Effective verbal and written communications skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office suite experience.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Engineering on desired production tooling and build-plan methodology and provides input on design criteria; analyzes manufacturability of components and assemblies.
• Guides and determines manufacturing processes, tooling methodology, discrete manufacturing operations and time standards to produce new parts/assemblies; authors and maintains process plans.
• Develops learning curves and hour projections for new program production; analyzes performance and recommends improvements.
• Oversees creation of manufacturing MBOM to enable MRP processes for order release, scheduling and sourcing.
• Provides technical guidance to initiate RCCA on production issues related to design, materials, tooling, specs and processes.
• Interprets engineering drawings, manufacturing operation sequences, tooling function and process specifications.
• Ensures processes and procedures comply with regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
