Job summary

Relativity Space in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II for Stage Machining to own forming operations, scale a press brake center to form 20’ sheets, and develop high-fidelity work instructions for the rocket primary structure.

You will standardize processes, support live issue resolution on the shop floor, and provide DFx feedback to structures teams during development and flight builds. A 2+ year manufacturing background and strong ASME Y14.5M skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or related field with 2+ years progressive manufacturing experience.
• History of improving manufacturing processes and ability to lead development projects.
• Strong engineering fundamentals in process improvement, forming, metallic processing, mechanics of materials.
• Deep knowledge of metallic manufacturing processes, tools, inspection methods and GD&T.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with engineering and manufacturing groups.
• Strong 3D & 2D design/drafting skills per ASME Y14.5M (NX preferred).

Responsibilities

• Own forming operations within the work center, delivering all formed products and improving both roll forming and press brake process.
• Bring online a press brake work center and lead the development to form up to 20’ sheets for the rocket primary structure.
• Create work instructions, specifications, and best practices across multiple high-fidelity processes.
• Help standardize processes across the manufacturing team.
• Support the shop floor through live issue resolution and provide upstream feedback as we innovate next-gen manufacturing technology.
• Provide Design for Manufacturing feedback to structures teams during development and through the first prototype and flight builds.
