Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer 2 to support Prototype, Manufacturing and Integration in Madison, AL, focusing on improving production processes and developing tooling and work instructions.

The role emphasizes manufacturing cell layouts, DFMs, and cost-effective solutions to convert engineering designs into delivered products. The engineer will govern mBOM and process documentation, collaborate with Operations and Design Engineering, and work toward

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or equivalent with relevant experience in manufacturing engineering.
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and plant layout optimization.
Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET clearance.
Experience using SOLIDWORKS CAD software and related tooling.

Responsibilities

Support manufacturing processes and governance of mBOM and bill of process.
Develop and optimize work instructions, tooling, and jigs to improve efficiency.
Analyze production metrics and drive cost reduction through process improvements.
Collaborate with Operations and Design Engineering to resolve on‑shop floor issues.
Create CONOPs to define build sequences and workflows.
