Job summary

Smith & Wesson is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes in line with product specs and quality standards. You will lead process improvements, coordinate launches of new or revised products and work with cross-functional teams to drive Lean initiatives.

The role requires coordinating tool and equipment definitions, training team members and managing manufacturing routing data, with a strong emphasis on efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BSME) or equivalent with 1–5 years in manufacturing; lean principles preferred.
• Experience with PCDMS CMM programming.
• Experience with SolidWorks.
• Experience addressing shop personnel needs with strong customer service.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justifies tools, machinery and equipment for manufacturing methods.
• Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
• Coordinates manufacturing launch of new or revised products, including training team members and evaluating results.
• Manages project tools, gauges, fixtures, equipment, routings and CMM/CNC programs.
• Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality and efficiency improvements.
• Maintains the Smith & Wesson routing database with operation sequences, labor hours and times.
• Works with external technical support and trains internal staff.
• Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
• Works with minimal supervision; sets priorities and meets deadlines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
