Job summary

Legrand is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA. This role provides technical support to the manufacturing engineering team, operations and personnel, and participates in the design and implementation of automation and process initiatives.

You will drive lean improvements, assess machinery, support ERP processes (Infor Syteline), develop assembly instructions, and help maintain ISO 9001-2015 documentation while collaborating across functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial or Mechanical preferred).
  • At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in assembly and machining.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer II to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA. This position provides technical support to the Manufacturing Engineering Team, production operations and personnel, and is involved in the design and implementation of manufacturing automation and process initiatives.


Responsibilities

What Will You Do?


  • Improve manufacturing efficiency through analysis and planning of work flow, space requirements, plant and equipment layout

  • Initiate, support and measure productivity and process improvements

  • Identify and implement lean manufacturing opportunities

  • Assess machinery and tooling, and coordinate low-level purchases

  • Support large capital project initiatives

  • Create and administer automation solutions

  • Support the design and implementation of fixturing for assembly operations

  • Develop and document operational procedures compliant to ISO 9001-2015

  • Support implementation of ERP processes (Infor Syteline)

  • Develop assembly instructions for specific processes as required

  • Develop and maintain production training documents

  • Support global initiatives


Education

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline, Industrial or Mechanical preferred

  • Minimum of one year of experience in the manufacturing engineering field, preferably in an assembly and machining environment (including co-ops and internships)

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred

  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities


  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Basic familiarity with production methods such as injection molding, stampings and extrusions as well as machining and fabricating technology

  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills for implementation of new methods

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written


Working Conditions / Physical Requirements


  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time

  • Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time, including air travel.
