Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to oversee metrology methods in production and improve testing processes across TAP divisions. You will develop testing techniques and collaborate with engineering to ensure smooth transfers of new products to production.

The role requires basic metrology knowledge, the ability to train production staff, and experience with measurement equipment. Occasional travel to other Thorlabs locations may be needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a relevant engineering or manufacturing role.
• Design for Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering (Optical, Mechanical, Production, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Identify problems and provide solutions for manufacturing issues related to new products and existing workflows.
• Participate in design reviews to discuss testing procedures and potential issues before production release.
• Conduct training with production personnel to improve manufacturing and testing processes across the division.
• Interface with engineering and operations to ensure transfer to production of new releases per approved processes.
