Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and improve production processes at the Newton, NJ site. You will develop assembly techniques and resolve manufacturing issues while promoting quality across departments.

The role involves collaboration with engineering, RMA, and service teams, creating process documents, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Requires a Bachelor's in a relevant field and 1 year of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Engineering (Optical/Mechanical/Production) or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing engineering role; Lean/Six Sigma a plus.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, Microsoft products, and Axapta; knowledge of quality tools like Lean/Six Sigma/Process Control/FMEA.

Responsibilities

• Identify manufacturing issues and provide corrective actions for new and existing products.
• Plan layouts to enable lean manufacturing and Six Sigma standards.
• Participate in design reviews to address procedures and potential production issues.
• Train production staff to improve manufacturing and testing processes.
• Coordinate with engineering and operations to transfer new releases to production.
