Job summary

Thorlabs, Newton, NJ, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to oversee metrology equipment and methods in production. You will develop testing techniques, improve processes, and resolve manufacturing issues while promoting quality across divisions. Occasional duties at other Thorlabs locations may occur.

Minimum 1 year in engineering within manufacturing; Bachelor's in physics or engineering. Experience with optical metrology tools and Lean/Six Sigma is a plus. ITAR-restricted work may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics, optical, mechanical or production engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience with Lean/Six Sigma or Process Control is a plus.
• Experience in manufacturing or R&D environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify problems in manufacturing and propose corrective actions.
• Participate in design reviews to validate test procedures for new products.
• Train production personnel on testing and manufacturing processes.
• Interface with engineering to ensure smooth transfer of new releases to production.
• Create and maintain testing process documents reflecting current methods.
