Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and improve production processes within the TAP Business Unit. You will develop assembly techniques, address manufacturing issues, and promote quality across production and related departments.

The role may involve duties at other Thorlabs locations as needed. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Engineering, hands-on experience with Lean/Six Sigma, SolidWorks, and Axapta, and strong teamwork in an R&D/NPD environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with Lean and Six Sigma in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong problem-solving and process-improvement capabilities.
• Familiarity with optics fabrication or glass/crystal components.
• Proficiency in using standard measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Design for manufacturability and participation in design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Identify manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
• Plan production layouts supporting lean and Six Sigma standards.
• Lead training to improve manufacturing and testing processes.
• Collaborate with engineering to transfer new products to production.
