Job summary

FM Industries in Phoenix, AZ, seeks an Engineer I to oversee and improve manufacturing processes using Lean/Six Sigma, DOE/DMAIC methods, and standardized work. You will validate tooling/fixturing and ensure safe, efficient production with cost-conscious improvements.

You will partner with operators, inspectors, and maintenance to ensure product conformance, drive quality, and reduce COPQ while improving throughput and cycle times. A Bachelor’s in a related field is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
• 2+ years in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or CI roles preferred.
• Strong Lean/Six Sigma, DMAIC experience and process optimization capabilities.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• SolidWorks or CAD software proficiency required.
• Knowledge of tooling, fixturing, and process controls.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily shop floor Gemba walks to spot safety, quality, and process improvements.
• Support incident investigations with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Verify ergonomic compliance and PPE usage per OSHA and internal standards.
• Collaborate with operators, technicians, inspectors, and maintenance for conformance and control.
• Audit operations against work instructions and process parameters.
• Investigate nonconformances and implement recurrence-reducing actions.
• Lead COPQ reduction through process improvements and waste reduction.
• Improve fixtures, tooling, setups, and process methods for repeatability and quality.
• Provide timely engineering support for production issues and tooling deficiencies.
• Work with Leads to optimize workflow and material movement.
• Analyze cycle time variation to meet production goals and on-time delivery.
