Job summary

Regal Rexnord Corp. in Monticello, IN, seeks an skilled grinder technician to support grinding operations for aerospace component manufacturing. The role reports to Manufacturing Eng Manager and focuses on setup, troubleshooting, and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Education: Technical degree or equivalent related experience
• Travel: Approx. 10% with runoff of new or rebuilt equipment
• Computer skills: PC literacy; MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint; Internet adept
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well in a matrix and team environment
• U.S. Person status may be required due to export control laws
• Regular attendance is expected

Responsibilities

• Assist setup and troubleshooting on grinding equipment; prepare tooling
• Submit workorders and coordinate with maintenance; set priorities
• Assist Engineering with part setups and process improvements
• Work with Engineering on quick-changeovers and standard work procedures
• Support new part setups, machines, and rates with Engineering
• Order grinding tooling (wheels, diamonds, jaws, drivers, quills)
• Perform first piece approval per setup; ensure routing/prints compliance
• Operate precision measuring equipment; support quality goals
• Adhere to Ethics, Safety, and Environmental policies; export control rules
• Follow AS9100 standards; support continuous improvement initiatives

The primary responsibility for this position is to support the operations of a $40 Million business that manufactures mechanical Aerospace components. This individual will provide quality support to the quality personnel to enhance business performance in the areas of mfg. cost, output, safety, and quality improvements. This position is located in Monticello, IN, and manufactures high quality Bearings used for Aerospace applications.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, performs various functions from assisting in setup and troubleshooting of grinding equipment, and ordering of all the tooling necessary for the grinding operation. Submit workorders and work with maintenance to set priority. Assist Engineering with new part setup, setup reduction, cycle reduction, and maintain controlled setup cards. Position may require some supervision coverage.

• Assigns work to appropriate S&O operator, and Operator B personnel, and instructs them as to proper procedures and gaging methods to be followed.
• Assist in setups and troubleshooting on grinding equipment (understand grind wheel capabilities, speeds and feeds). Providing second ok and review job to be compliant with production routing and/or print requirements.
• Submit workorders for down equipment and help set priority. Vendor engagement and scheduling in alignment with Maintenance.
• Work with Engineering on process improvements including quick change overs (setup reduction), standard work procedures, stock reductions, cycle reduction, and maintenance of controlled setup cards.
• Work with Engineering for new part setups (machines and rates) as well as new machine design and application.
• Assist in order of grinding tooling (grinding wheels, diamonds, jaws, drivers, quills, diamond rolls).
• Perform first piece approval per set up approval process.
• Operate precision measuring equipment.
• Follow Ethics and Safety Programs
• Adhere to all Export, Import and Supply Chain Security Policy requirements relevant to the position.
• Follow State and Federal Environmental Compliance Programs
• Adhere to AS9100 Standards
• Job duties include but are not limited to the above
