Job summary

iMPact Business Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a hands-on role in Muskegon, MI, supporting the development and production of highly engineered industrial equipment. Onsite position with emphasis on improving processes and solving production challenges.

Responsibilities include optimizing processes, collaborating with design engineering, supporting prototypes and launches, and designing fixtures and tooling to boost efficiency and repeatability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in CNC machining, machine building, or precision manufacturing.
  • Experience with designing for manufacturability and interpreting drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D and GD&T.

  • Troubleshoot machining, assembly, and production issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Service, and suppliers on projects.

Precision Manufacturing | Custom Industrial Equipment | Hands-On Engineering Role

Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and production of highly engineered industrial equipment. This is a hands‑on opportunity for an engineer who enjoys improving manufacturing processes, solving production challenges, and partnering with engineering and operations teams to bring complex equipment from concept through production.

Key Focus Areas: Manufacturing Processes | CNC Machining | New Product Introduction | Continuous Improvement | DFM | Mechanical Assembly

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for precision components and complex mechanical assemblies
  • Partner with design engineering to improve manufacturability, assembly processes, and long‑term serviceability
  • Support prototype builds, production launches, and new product introductions
  • Troubleshoot machining, assembly, and manufacturing challenges while implementing corrective actions
  • Design and develop fixtures, tooling, and assembly aids to improve efficiency and repeatability
  • Provide hands‑on engineering support to production teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, SOPs, assembly documentation, and process guides
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Service, and suppliers to support project execution
  • Provide technical support during equipment assembly, installation, commissioning, and service activities as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, cost, and overall manufacturing performance
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience within CNC machining, machine building, precision manufacturing, or similar environments
  • Experience developing processes for complex mechanical assemblies and engineered equipment
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
  • Experience with SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D and GD&T
  • Understanding of CNC machining processes, including multi-axis machining
  • Experience troubleshooting machining and assembly issues in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and service teams
Preferred Experience:
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) experience
  • Fixture, tooling, or assembly aid design
  • Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • Equipment installation, commissioning, or field support experience
  • Experience supporting custom machinery or highly engineered products
