Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of hands-on CNC machining experience.
  • Proficiency with CAM software, G-code, and machine simulation.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, and CMM programming.
  • Track record of improving machining productivity, quality, and process capability.
  • Experience mentoring CNC programmers and machinists.
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement familiarity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and standardize CNC machining processes using CAM software and G-code.
  • Drive continuous improvements in productivity, quality, scrap reduction, cycle time, and process capability.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions related to machining, tooling, and processes.
  • Partner with Design Engineering on DFM reviews and NPI initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain setup docs, tool paths, work instructions, and standard machining processes.
  • Provide hands-on support during process launches and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate and implement tooling, automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Support GR&R studies, capability analysis, and first-article inspections.
  • Identify opportunities for lights-out machining and increased automation.
  • Mentor machinists and technicians; promote standard work and best practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate challenges into practical manufacturing solutions.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Manufacturing Engineer with strong hands‑on machining expertise and a passion for manufacturing engineering and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will work closely with Operations, Quality, Design Engineering, machinists, and shop‑floor teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges and identify opportunities to increase productivity, improve quality, reduce scrap, shorten cycle times, and strengthen overall process capability.

This is a hands‑on engineering role for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, solving problems, optimizing machining processes, and turning improvement opportunities into sustainable results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, optimize, and standardize CNC machining processes using CAM software and G‑code.
  • Drive continuous improvements in productivity, quality, scrap reduction, cycle time, and process capability.
  • Lead root‑cause investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions related to machining, tooling, and process issues.
  • Partner with Design Engineering on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews, new product introductions, and manufacturability improvements.
  • Develop and maintain setup documentation, tool paths, work instructions, and standardized machining processes.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support during process launches, troubleshooting activities, and complex shop‑floor challenges.
  • Evaluate and implement tooling, automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies to improve operational performance.
  • Support GR&R studies, capability analysis, first‑article inspections, and other process‑validation activities.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for lights‑out machining, unattended production, and increased automation.
  • Mentor machinists and technicians while promoting process discipline, standard work, and best practices across machining operations.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to translate technical challenges into practical, effective manufacturing solutions.
What We're Looking For
  • 5–7 years of hands‑on CNC machining experience, including machine setup, programming, and process optimization.
  • Strong proficiency with CAM software, G‑code, and machine simulation tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering drawings, blueprint reading, GD&T, and CMM programming.
  • Demonstrated success improving machining productivity, quality, scrap performance, and process capability.Experience mentoring machinists, CNC programmers, technicians, or other manufacturing personnel.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root‑cause problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Production teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, hands‑on approach.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Preferred / Bonus Experience
  • Experience implementing CNC automation, robotics, or lights‑out manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Experience participating in or leading DFM initiatives.
  • Experience with advanced machining technologies, automated tooling, or process monitoring systems.
