Job summary

TES Recruiting is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Richmond, VA to design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes on the production floor. This hands‑on role partners with operations, maintenance, and leadership to drive efficiency and reliability in a high‑mix environment.

You will manage capital projects from concept to handoff, develop timelines, and collaborate across teams to eliminate waste and improve throughput.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role.
• Experience in a custom or high‑mix manufacturing environment preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Familiarity with TPM, predictive maintenance, and reliability‑centered maintenance.
• Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
• Hands‑on, self‑driven with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Background and drug test will be required.

Responsibilities

• Spend time on the manufacturing floor observing, documenting, and improving machine performance, process reliability, and production throughput.
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues using root cause analysis.
• Engage employees to gain buy‑in for continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage capital and expense projects from concept through completion with scheduling, installation, and handoff.
• Develop project timelines, milestones, and countermeasures to meet deadlines.
• Identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and implement process improvements to increase productivity.
• Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and equipment layouts to improve systems.
• Communicate project plans and results using data analysis and observations.
• Develop SOPs and work instructions to support safe operations.
• Train production and maintenance personnel to ensure consistency and reliability.

Position Overview:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting production operations by designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes. This is a hands‑on role requiring significant time on the production floor, working closely with operators, maintenance, and leadership to drive efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement. You will also serve as a key link between Sales/Applications Engineering and Production, helping ensure successful execution of projects and ongoing operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Spend time on the manufacturing floor observing, documenting, and improving machine performance, process reliability, and production throughput
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety teams to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues using root cause analysis

• Clearly communicate project plans, updates, and results using data analysis and hands‑on observations

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role
• Experience working in a custom or high-mix manufacturing environment preferred
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, automation, and industrial equipment
• Proven ability to manage projects from concept through implementationProficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
• Familiarity with TPM, predictive maintenance, and reliability‑centered maintenance
• Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Hands‑on, self‑driven individual with strong problem‑solving skills
• High level of ownership, accountability, and adaptability
• Ability to work 1st shift hours (6:00 A.M. – 2:30 P.M.)
