Job summary

Champion Aerospace LLC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize manufacturing processes, select tooling, and advise on tooling and equipment enhancements. The role emphasizes problem solving, root-cause analysis, and collaboration with maintenance, quality, and product engineering teams.

The position requires a mechanical engineering degree and 5+ years in aerospace/automotive settings, with experience in metal joining and SolidWorks. Office hours with on-site shift support are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field (Mechanical preferred) with strong problem solving skills.
• Minimum five (5) years related experience, preferably in Aerospace or Automotive environment
• Experience with metal-joining processes (Tig, resistance welding, brazing) preferred

Responsibilities

• Problem Solving: Handle day-to-day problems with processes, product, equipment and documentation; investigate and complete Corrective Action Requests and address root cause with the team.
• Productivity Improvements: Identify and address areas of productivity improvement using Lean techniques.
• Capital Projects: Identify, scope, manage and implement capital investment projects to improve productivity.
• Process and Tooling Design: Design and maintain manufacturing processes and equipment; design tooling and write SOPs as required.
• Technical Communication: Prepare documentation and process changes using ECRs.
• Cross-Functional Teamwork: Participate in new product design reviews and interact with customers during audits and investigations.

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Department: Manufacturing Engineering

Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Shift/Schedule: Office Hours

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. Functions performed may include determining the machines, equipment, and tools, as well as the sequence of operations necessary to perform production and assembly operations, recommending the design of production machines and other plant equipment, and advising and assisting vendors with design problems in connection with tools, gauges, and equipment designed for use in manufacturing.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/COMPETENCIES

• Problem Solving: Handle day-to-day problems with processes, product, equipment and documentation. Investigate and complete assigned Corrective Action Requests, working with assigned Business Unit team to systematically identify and address root cause. Assist and coordinate with maintenance and facility engineering for process and equipment troubleshooting to support production goals and reduce downtime.
• Productivity Improvements: Identify and address areas of productivity (i.e. scrap, downtime, effectiveness) improvement using systematic problem solving and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
• Capital Projects: Identify, properly scope, manage and implement Capital Investment projects to improve productivity (i.e. scrap, downtime, effectiveness).
• Process and Tooling Design: Design and maintain manufacturing processes and equipment in the assigned Business Unit. Design tooling required for critical assembly, test, production, or inspection operations. Estimate design and fabrication times and costs for new tools and products. Write Standard Operating Instructions (SOI) as required.
• Technical Communication: Compose and process documentation and process changes using the Engineering Change Requests (ECR) procedure.
• Cross-Functional Teamwork: Actively participate and represent Manufacturing Engineering in new product design reviews. Interact, when required, with customers during audits, product investigations and presentations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field (Mechanical preferred) with strong problem solving skills
• Minimum five (5) years related experience, preferably in Aerospace or Automotive environment
• Experience with metal-joining processes (Tig, resistance welding, brazing) preferred

• Solidworks (preferred)
• Experience with robot/cobot automation
• Capital Project Management ($2,500 - $1.5M)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
