Job summary

Champion Aerospace LLC, based in Liberty, SC, seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. You will determine machines, equipment, and tools, and advise vendors on tool designs for production and inspection operations.

The role emphasizes lean methods, capital projects, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve safety, quality, and on-time delivery goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field (Mechanical preferred).
• Minimum five (5) years related experience, preferably in Aerospace or Automotive environment.
• Experience with metal-joining processes (Tig, resistance welding, brazing) preferred.
• SolidWorks (preferred).
• Experience with robot/cobot automation.
• Capital Project Management ($2,500 - $1.5M).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day problems with processes, product, equipment and documentation.
• Investigate and complete assigned Corrective Action Requests, working with assigned Business Unit team to systematically identify and address root cause.
• Assist and coordinate with maintenance and facility engineering for process and equipment troubleshooting to support production goals and reduce downtime.
• Identify and address areas of productivity (i.e. scrap, downtime, effectiveness) improvement using systematic problem solving and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
• Identify, properly scope, manage and implement Capital Investment projects to improve productivity (i.e. scrap, downtime, effectiveness).
• Design and maintain manufacturing processes and equipment in the assigned Business Unit. Design tooling required for critical assembly, test, production, or inspection operations.
• Write Standard Operating Instructions (SOI) as required.
• Compose and process documentation and process changes using the Engineering Change Requests (ECR) procedure.
• Actively participate and represent Manufacturing Engineering in new product design reviews. Interact, when required, with customers during audits, product investigations and presentations.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. Functions performed may include determining the machines, equipment, and tools, as well as the sequence of operations necessary to perform production and assembly operations, recommending the design of production machines and other plant equipment, and advising and assisting vendors with design problems in connection with tools, gauges, and equipment designed for use in manufacturing.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
