Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; Mechanical and/or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience in a machining environment.
  • Lean/Six Sigma knowledge; Green Belt/Black Belt desired.
  • Proficiency in Excel; CAD software a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment and documentation to improve yields and efficiency.
  • Assess equipment functionality and recommend improvements/upgrades/modifications.
  • Troubleshoot processes and equipment; perform root cause analyses to restore peak functionality.

Position Summary

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will work with the site manufacturing engineers, providing day-to-day, hands‑on manufacturing engineering leadership, development, execution and, ensuring manufacturing systems and processes are robust, repeatable and controlled. This position will lead cross functional teams in identifying, executing, and reporting on productivity pipeline projects that deliver safety, quality, productivity, VC/ESH, and throughput improvements.

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will work with the site manufacturing engineers, providing day‑to‑day, hands‑on manufacturing engineering leadership, development, execution and, ensuring manufacturing systems and processes are robust, repeatable and controlled. This position will lead cross functional teams in identifying, executing, and reporting on productivity pipeline projects that deliver safety, quality, productivity, VC/ESH, and throughput improvements.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluates, implements, maintains, and upgrades manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment and documentation to improve yields and efficiency and to reduce processing and cycle time.
  • Assesses manufacturing equipment functionality and suitability and recommends improvements, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Troubleshoots and performs root cause analyses on processes and equipment to return them to peak functionality.
  • Implements robust corrective action plans to ensure manufacturing issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ensures key process variables are identified, characterized and controlled sufficiently to consistently result in acceptable quality and cycle times.
  • Supports the development and implementation of all processes, tooling, and test fixtures.
  • Ensures product designs and manufacturing methods meet customer specifications and are manufacturable.
  • Supports acceptance testing, qualification and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Responsible for the clear documentation of processes developed for manufacturing.
  • Supports the transition of new programs from engineering to production.
  • Supports Operations group to ensure products are delivered on time.
  • Provides technical direction to Operations.
  • Supports engineering and product development activities including advanced technology development, R&D, tooling development and transition of new programs into production; ensuring manufacturability.
  • Mentor and assist in the development of manufacturing engineering team members
  • Manage the day‑to‑day responsibilities and job functions of Manufacturing co‑ops
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (IT/ Quality Control / Product Engineering /Operations / Supply Chain) to develop and create robust manufacturing systems and strategies.
  • Own the scope, implementation and tracking of productivity pipeline projects. Set goals, track deliverables, manage expectations, identify risk, and drive mitigations across all productivity pipeline tasks and projects.
  • Capture, analyze, real‑time manufacturing data and metrics; ensuring accurate KPI dashboard data
  • Research and recommend latest innovation in manufacturing methods, processes and execution systems, IIoT, and Industry 4.0 technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Required Skills
  • Ability to read blueprints at an advanced level.
  • Excellent computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • CAD or 3D modeling system operation knowledge at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to think spatially and creatively at an advanced level.
  • Ability to analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving skills.
  • Uses Inspection equipment: Calipers, Micrometers.

Experience & Education
  • BS in an Engineering discipline; Mechanical and/or Industrial Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years of related experience in a machining environment
  • Prior experience in Aerospace preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma; Six Sigma Greenbelt or Black Belt desired.
  • Must have the ability to reason and arrive at conclusions with minimum help and have basic understanding of statistics. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, CAD software a plus.
  • Must be able to demonstrate, teamwork, collaboration, creativity, and innovation.
  • Self‑motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.
  • Solid Works and AutoCAD computer software experience will be a plus
