Job summary

Ford is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to sit at the intersection of software engineering and manufacturing operations. You will embed with plant teams, design and deploy software across edge, on-prem and cloud, connecting MES, quality and automation systems to real-time analytics and AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering or industrial software experience.
• Experience with manufacturing environments, MES integrations or plant-floor data.
• Hands-on with IIoT architectures, MQTT, OPC-UA and edge gateways.
• Ability to design analytics for throughput, uptime and quality.
• Strong server-side and cloud experience with Go, Python or TS.
• Comfortable in highly secured manufacturing environments with IAM and audits.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy software connecting equipment, sensors, MES and cloud systems.
• Design IIoT architectures, MQTT and OPC-UA data flows for production data.
• Embed with plant teams to translate needs into shipped software.
• Build analytics and operational intelligence for OEE, downtime and throughput.
• Deliver end-to-end deployment across application, cloud and edge layers.
• Maintain security, access controls and compliant deployment practices.
• Apply AI/ML where it yields measurable manufacturing value.
• Help establish scalable software, data, security and deployment standards.
