Job summary

Novanta is seeking a Staff Cost Accountant to support month-end close, cost accounting, and inventory analysis in the United States. This role requires attention to detail and familiarity with cost accounting principles, with opportunities to collaborate across operations, finance, and supply chain teams.

The position focuses on journal entries, inventory reconciliation, E&O analysis, and closing manufacturing work orders, contributing to accurate financial reporting and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or cost accounting.
• Knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and month-end close processes.
• Proficiency in Excel; Oracle ERP experience required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and book journal entries for month-end close in accordance with GAAP and policy.
• Prepare monthly inventory reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare E&O (excess and obsolete) inventory analysis and suggest reserves.
• Close completed manufacturing work orders and analyze variances.
• Schedule and lead recurring review meetings with operations, supply chain, and finance.
• Support additional month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Assist with internal and external audits related to cost accounting and inventory.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting processes and internal controls.
