Job summary

Novanta Inc. is seeking a Staff Cost Accountant to support month-end close, inventory control, and cost analysis. This role collaborates with operations, finance, and supply chain to ensure accurate journal entries, inventory reconciliations, and E&O assessments.

You will prepare cost analyses, review manufacturing work orders for cost variances, and participate in audits. Proficiency in Excel and Oracle ERP, plus GAAP knowledge, are essential to success in our manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
• 1–3 years accounting experience preferred, manufacturing or cost accounting environment a plus.
• Working knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and month-end close processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Oracle ERP experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and book journal entries as part of the month-end close.
• Prepare monthly inventory reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare E&O inventory analysis and reserve adjustments.
• Review and close completed manufacturing work orders and analyze variances.
• Schedule and facilitate recurring review meetings with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Assist with internal and external audits related to cost accounting and inventory.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting processes and internal controls.
