Job summary

Volt in Cedar Creek, Texas is seeking a Manufacturing Scientist to join our production team. You will perform plasmid and DNA purifications, quantify DNA with a nanodrop, and manufacture and test complex master mixes used in RT‑PCR and QPCR kits.

The ideal candidate holds a BS/BA in biological science with 2–4 years of molecular biology experience, hands‑on knowledge of standard techniques (plasmid purifications, PCR, QPCR), and familiarity with microarray or NGS testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform plasmid and DNA purifications and perform DNA quantification using nanodrop spectrophotometer.
• Manufacture and test complex master mixes and bulks used in RT-PCR and QPCR kits.
• Manufacture and test microarray reagents used in genomic DNA labeling kits and hybridization kits.
• Analyze quantitative data and report results accurately.
• Actively assist in the execution of manufacturing process validations for new processes, products, and regulatory level validations.
• Actively assist with the introduction of new products and the exploration of new technologies for the improvement of product quality.
• Assist other teams in the production and testing of products as required and other duties as assigned.
• Maintain stocks of raw materials required for manufacturing and quality control testing.
• Maintaining a work environment based on 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Identifying opportunities for process improvements.
• Other duties include the writing, maintenance and reviewing of ISO-compliant Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.

Contract & Working Hours

This is a full-time- contract opportunity.

Ideal Candidate

• BS/BA degree in biological science or related field and two to four years of previous experience in chemistry, molecular biology, and/or biochemistry.
• Hands on working knowledge of standard laboratory techniques of molecular biology is required, including plasmid purifications, PCR and QPCR.
• Experience with NGS or microarray testing is a plus.

Pay & Benefits

• Pay Rate: $30 - $33.52 per hour
• *Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
