Job summary

Sheridan is hiring for a Manufacturing Associate in finishing/bindery on the nighttime 7p–7a shift. You’ll learn to run high-speed bindery equipment, feed materials, pack books, and maintain quality on a fast-paced production floor.

We train you, offer overtime opportunities, and provide a path to long-term careers in print manufacturing. Prior machine experience is welcome, but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating machinery in any industry is acceptable.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and safety rules.
• Basic math skills and use of measuring devices.
• Basic problem-solving skills and mechanical inclination.

Responsibilities

• Feed books/signatures into high-speed bindery equipment.
• Pack books into cartons and move materials safely.
• Perform hand operations as required and work as a team to hit daily goals.
• Inspect finished products for quality and uphold safety procedures.

What You'll Do

• Feed books/signatures into machine
• Pack books into cartons
• Safely move materials/books to and from workstation
• Perform hand operations as required
• Work as part of a team to hit daily production goals
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards
• Follow safety procedures and help maintain a clean, organized workspace

What We're Looking For

• Have experience operating machinery in any industry (manufacturing, warehouse, trades, etc.)
• High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, workplace, and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Basic math skills, add subtract, and ability to use a measuring device
• Basic problem-solving skills
• Are mechanically inclined and comfortable using basic tools
• Can read basic job instructions and measurements
• Take pride in doing quality work
• Show up reliably and work well with a team

It's a plus if you have:

• Print, bindery, or finishing experience
• Experience setting up or adjusting production equipment

Physical & Work Environment

• On your feet for most of the shift
• Fast-paced, team-oriented production floor
• Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
