Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI) is seeking a Manufacturing Application Support Engineer to help troubleshoot manufacturing software systems in its Sugar Land, Texas facility.

You will work with MES/EAP/RMS modules, review data quality, and support production-related software across the factory floor. The role emphasizes strong SQL skills, documentation, and cross-functional teamwork with Production, Engineering, IT, and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills for troubleshooting and data investigation.
• Experience troubleshooting software using logs, database records, and diagnostics.
• Experience supporting Windows-based applications and Windows Services.
• Understanding of client/server architecture and networks.
• Strong documentation and cross-functional communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize issues and escalate when needed.

Responsibilities

• Use SQL to investigate and troubleshoot production issues across manufacturing data and transactions.
• Support MES, EAP, RMS, FDC, WMS, and related production software.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including SOPs and knowledge base articles.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, IT, Software Development, and vendors to resolve issues.
• Participate in root cause analysis for critical production incidents and identify corrective actions.
• Provide after-hours or on-call support as required by manufacturing operations.
