Job summary

Parker Hannifin is seeking a Production Operator in Alliance, Nebraska. You will operate mandrel inspection and mold machines, set laser O.D. and mandrel lube, and follow strict standard work to ensure quality.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow standard work: select mandrel, set up inspection and mold/weld machines, prepare lube tank and traverse settings.
  • Operate mold machine and inspect defects such as cracks, excess rubber, and surface smoothness.
  • Measure mandrel O.D. with tape, calipers to ensure diameter and ovality meet specs.
  • Prepare lubrication, agitate lubricant, and apply consistent lubrication to mandrel.
  • Identify and eliminate known defects to maintain quality; cut out defects and splice ends.
  • Ensure documentation is completed and up-to-date.

Job description

Position Summary
SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for operating mandrel inspection and mold machines, set laser O.D. and mandrel lube operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Must be capable of following and meeting standard work requirements including but not limited to:
    1. Selecting proper mandrel and set-up inspection and mold and/or weld machine, prepare tank with correct lube and set proper traverse setting
    2. Operating mold machine, paying particular attention to any defects like cracks, excess rubber, alignment of mold and smoothness of outer surface
    3. Measuring the O.D. of mandrel with O.D. and/or Pi tape or sliding calipers to determine if the mandrel is within the specification limits of diameter and ovality.
    4. Preparing the lube tank, agitate the lubricant properly, and apply a consistent application of lubricant to the mandrel.
  2. Operator will ensure quality by identifying and eliminating known defects by cutting out any known defects and splicing ends together.
  3. Assure all necessary documents required are properly prepared and completed.

  1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.

  2. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.

  3. Maintain production schedules.

  4. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

  5. Other duties may be assigned later.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education required: High School diploma or GED

Experience: Production work preferred but not required

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  1. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  2. Basic knowledge and use of hand tools
  3. Sound decision making skills
  4. Good math, reading, writing skills
  5. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  6. Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product
  7. Strong trouble shooting skills

  • Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. Required PPE:
    1. Safety glasses
    2. Kevlar gloves
    3. ANSI Z41 Safety Shoes
  2. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling and grasping are done on a frequent basis. Climbing, carrying, stooping, lifting and lifting overhead are performed on an occasional basis.
  3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
  4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
