Job summary

  • Monitor production flow and align with schedule (Made to Order/ cards) for current and upcoming runs.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the reinforcement machines (Braid Machines).

Position Summary

Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the reinforcement machines (Braid Machines).

Essential Functions
  • When setting up machines and running hose, operators will follow the standard work instructions.
  • Operator must organize, coordinate, and monitor multiple machines as they are running to ensure a quality product.
  • Operator will prioritize job duties based on information obtained from Work Leader/Value Stream Team Leader and/or braid set-up sheet.
  • Operator will communicate with Material Handler when needing supplies.
  • Operator will diagnose and troubleshoot minor problems to prevent serious mechanical failures and communicate with Maintenance when needed.
  • Operator will monitor the flow of production and check the schedule (via cards or Made to Order) to know what the current run is and what the future run(s) will be.
Department Specific/ Non-essential Functions
  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.
  • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
  • Maintain production schedules.
  • Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
  • Other duties may be assigned later.
Minimum Requirements

Education required/ preferred: High School diploma or GED

Experience

Production work preferred but not required

  • Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
  • Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
