Job summary

WyoFile is seeking a Managing Editor to lead a growing team of staff reporters and freelancers, guiding daily operations and shaping the editorial vision. The role reports to the Editor-in-chief and is based in Lander, with flexibility for Casper or Laramie.

Qualifications

• Editorial leadership with a magazine/newspaper background and urgency.
• Uncompromising news judgment with a focus on public-interest journalism.
• Mentoring reporters and building freelance pipelines.
• Expert knowledge of AP style and strong editing craft.
• Ability to guide day-to-day operations and editorial vision.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of reporters, columnists and freelancers; some remote.
• Collaborate on story development from topic to writing.
• Develop budgets and enforce deadlines across programs.

• Generate and pitch story ideas and contribute to editorial vision.
