This senior role interfaces with ACES, NRCO, and SMECO executives to optimize the energy portfolio and ensure policy compliance. Qualifications

• Four‑year college degree in engineering, accounting or business discipline.
• Professional certification is preferred (e.g. EIT, PE or CPA).
• Minimum eight years progressive experience in the operation, control or accounting of electric utility systems.
• Experience with wholesale energy markets required, including, but not limited to, risk management, ISO/RTO experience with knowledge of accounting procedures and relative computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Initiates, with ACES, an annual hedge plan and execution strategy, including a congestion mitigation strategy using FTRs and/or OTC power swaps.
• Develops SMECO’s annual power supply budget and presents to committees; ensures policy alignment; analyzes transactions for risk and cost.
• Directs division’s risk and credit management activities for energy procurement and evaluation of transactions for risk and compliance.
• Oversees SMECO’s participation in PSC, FERC, PJM meetings; guides regulatory policy and rate matters; monitors other utility rates.
• Directs design and implementation of retail rates; manages regulatory filings and interaction with Curtailment Service Providers.
• Prepares annual embedded cost of service studies and long-term load forecasts; oversees budget and short-term load forecasting; manages PPCA/BSA models.
• Manages load research to support cost of service, rate design, and forecasting; handles data collection and reporting.
• Performs other economic/quantitative analyses and contributes to the department budget; completes relevant training.
