Job summary

Maryland Governor’s Office seeks a Director for the Strategic Energy Planning Office (SEPO) in Baltimore to lead the new independent energy planning office and oversee the triennial wholesale energy market risk report and long-horizon analyses. You will manage budgeting, staff, consultants, and coordinate with PJM and regulators, delivering policy-relevant insights and robust planning tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, engineering, public policy, law, or related field.
• Significant professional experience in wholesale electricity markets, resource adequacy, or electric system planning; 5+ years in a supervisory/managerial role.

Responsibilities

• Lead staffing, budgeting, and modeling platform for SEPO.
• Oversee 20-year load forecasting and scenario analysis for reliability and cost.
• Coordinate stakeholder processes and public reporting for the Risk Report.
• Defend analysis before regulators, legislators, and stakeholders.
