About Cementation Americas:

Cementation Americas is a premier, full-service underground mining contractor renowned for its industry-leading safety record and world-class technical execution in shaft sinking, raise drilling, and mine development, with major operations across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Following its acquisition by a consortium led by investment group Differential Capital, the business now operates within UGM Global Services. With a healthy order book supported by the global energy transition and the demand for critical minerals, Cementation is entering a period of sustained growth.

The broader UGM Global Services group also includes Terra Nova Technologies and Cementation Africa, which operate as separate businesses alongside Cementation Americas.

The Role

The Managing Director is the highest-level executive for the Americas, overseeing operations across Canada, the United States, and Mexico as well as the company's international joint ventures, and working closely with the wider group.

The business operates from primary hubs in North Bay, Ontario, and Utah. This role is based in Sandy, in the Salt Lake City area, with relocation support available, and will focus on people, operations development, and strategic growth.

Core Responsibilities
  • Setting the business vision, aligning operational goals with parent company strategy (UGM Global Services), and driving sustainable multi-site growth.
  • Full P&L responsibility, annual budgeting, commercial forecasting, pricing strategy, and executive sponsorship for major bids and contracts.
  • Ultimate accountability for health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance, demonstrated through visible felt leadership, alongside mitigating technical design and contracting risks.
  • Overseeing shaft sinking, underground mine development, raise drilling, and contract mining operations from tendering to final project delivery.
  • Acting as the primary company representative with key clients, major supply chains, international joint-venture partners, and board directors.
  • Championing and sponsoring mentorship and development programs across the business, and personally developing the Executive Team, to foster high performance, technical excellence, and a culture of continuous learning.
Key Qualifications & Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Construction Management; advanced degrees (MBA) or professional engineering licensure (P.Eng. or PE) are highly preferred.
  • Extensive executive or senior leadership experience (15-20+ years) within underground mining, contract mining, or specialist mining services.
  • Deep, established relationships with mine owners and operators in the United States and Canada, ideally with direct leadership experience in the contract mining market.
  • Demonstrated history of managing a large-scale P&L, negotiating complex high-value contracts, and driving business growth.
  • Strong communication, strategic decision-making, crisis management, and an ability to empower teams across the business.
  • Demonstrated, personally credible safety leadership across dispersed field operations.
  • An entrepreneurial approach to leading a business, including a willingness to be personally invested in its success.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a world-leading contracting business into its next phase of growth.

The new Managing Director will have clear accountability and the mandate to develop the business, including its international joint ventures.
