Carmeuse is seeking an Area Operations Manager to provide overall direction and guidance for operational activities. This role aims to manage and control costs while maximizing growth sustainably.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree (preferably an MBA), minimum 10 years of experience in the mining or heavy engineering industry, and a proven ability to lead a $50MM+ business unit. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and be fluent in English.

Overview

Area Operations Manager provides overall direction and guidance to the operational activities of the regional organization with the objective of managing and controlling costs, maximizing growth and profitability in a sustainable manner. The role delivers day‑to‑day situational leadership to team members using Carmeuse guiding principles & values.

Responsibilities

• Manages regional operations by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established values, goals, objectives, and policies.
• Drives a team culture that enhances the experience and empowers support functions to achieve region‑wide goals.
• Executes and contributes to a long‑range vision for the region by implementing agreed programs to ensure attainment of the business plan for growth and profit with emphasis on long‑term principles, sustainability, and a creative work environment.
• Develops and creates initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
• Provides direction and structure for operating units through celebrating successes, rewarding positive behavior, motivation, and accountability.
• Drives a systematic approach in all facets of operations with a focus on continuous improvement to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.
• Provides mentoring, growth opportunities, and guidance to subordinates and other employees with emphasis on succession planning and personal career growth throughout all levels of the organization.
• Collaborates across regions to spread best practices and experiences through continuous improvement and knowledge management.
