Our client is an ASX listed exploration and mine development company with existing assets in the United States of America. Their flagship project is an underground poly-metallic mine. Significant surface and underground infrastructure from prior mining activity is in place, supporting mine development through DFS and FID. To drive the evolution of the company to producer status, we now seek a technically competent underground mining engineer. Reporting to the MD/CEO, you will lead the transition from project development into operational readiness and sustainable production, ensuring the business is positioned for safe, efficient, and profitable growth.

The position will be based in the US, although frequent travel to the project will be required, including up to a continuous 6-month period of time during capital upgrades, operational readiness and commissioning

An attractive executive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate, commensurate with experience.

Key responsibilities:

Work with existing teams and consultants currently engaged, driving the progression of the business through the latter stages of the DFS and the FID

Partner with technical, commercial and project teams to manage risk, regulatory obligations and stakeholder expectations

Ensure strong safety leadership and a culture of compliance across all exploration, construction, commissioning and operational activities

Drive operational readiness programs to support the successful transition from development through commissioning and into production

Build and lead high-performing teams, systems and processes capable of supporting corporate and operational goals

Lead all operational aspects of the business, including mining, processing, project delivery, supply chain, maintenance and support functions

Optimise production performance, cost efficiency, asset utilisation and continuous improvement initiatives

Provide regular development & operational reporting, together with strategic advice to the Managing Director.

Strong background in underground mine development, operational start-up, ramp-up and production environments

Demonstrated ability to lead complex operations with a strong focus on safety, performance and commercial outcomes

Ideally you will have operated at the General Manager level on an existing underground mining operation, although people with a number of years as an Underground Manager are also encouraged to enquire/apply
