Job summary

ERM is seeking a Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist to oversee multidisciplinary cultural resource projects across the United States. The role emphasizes technical leadership, project management, and client engagement within the Cultural Resources Services team.

You will mentor archaeologists, drive business development, coordinate fieldwork and reporting, and collaborate with other ERM practice areas to advance sustainable development.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field plus 8+ years of related paid experience.
• Ability to obtain archaeological and cultural resource permits.
• Experience in inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery.
• Experience as primary author on agency‑reviewed technical reports.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation of work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee archaeological studies and projects from planning through completion.
• Provide technical consulting to support growth of ERM’s archaeology and cultural heritage business.
• Interact with other ERM practice areas to share resources and best practices.
• Represent ERM in communications and at meetings with agencies.
• Lead, manage, hire, retain, and mentor personnel for the technical team.
