Job summary

ERM is seeking a Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist to lead multidisciplinary archaeological projects across the United States. You will oversee fieldwork, write agency-reviewed reports, and mentor a team of cultural resource professionals.

The role emphasizes business development, client engagement, and coordination with ERM’s other practice areas to expand market share in the Cultural Resources marketplace. Significant travel is involved.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field plus 8+ years of related paid experience.
• Ability to obtain archaeological and cultural resource permits.
• Experience as primary author on agency-reviewed technical reports.
• Proficient in permitting regulations for cultural resources (FERC, USACE, THC).
• Excellent communication and computer skills.
• Demonstrated business development abilities and ability to maintain long-term client relationships.
• Ability to manage and work within a team as well as independently.
• Limited travel within the United States.
• Regulatory processes familiarity at federal, state, and municipal levels.
• This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Oversee literature review, field reconnaissance, surveys, and excavation for archaeological studies and projects.
• Provide technical consulting to support ERM’s archaeology and cultural heritage business growth.
• Interact with other ERM practice areas to share resources and best practices.
• Represent ERM at meetings with state, federal, and local agencies.
• Lead, manage, and mentor staff for overall team success.
