The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role offering work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management. Progression to management typically occurs within 8-12 weeks, depending on experience and performance.

Responsibilities

As a management team member, an MIT is expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the Store Manager's supervision, the MIT will lead a team through strong leadership, initiative, and example-setting.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in:

• Overall store retail and commercial management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Financial management—manage, analyze, and reconcile monthly P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs are responsible for completing operations and management training, learning key business aspects and AutoZone culture. Maintaining satisfactory performance and demonstrating progress are essential for continued consideration for management roles.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and available openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work full-time flexible shifts, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills preferred but not required
• Automotive experience and financial analysis experience are preferred but not required
