The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the program may lead to a management position within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is part of the management team. As such, they are expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will lead by example to maintain an engaged, productive team.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in the overall store operation, including:

• Store management, supervision, and policy enforcement
• Financial management — analyzing and reconciling monthly P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs will complete operations and management training, learning key aspects of the business and AutoZone culture. Performance and progression in training are essential for continued consideration for management roles.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager or Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and management openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
• Automotive experience and financial analysis experience are preferred but not required
