Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Manager of Surgery Support Services to maintain a safe, efficient perioperative environment that supports patient care and throughput.

The role oversees operating and procedural room turnovers, patient transport, equipment readiness, and regulatory compliance across the surgical campus and off-site locations, while leading quality and performance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and 2 years of experience in healthcare operations, perioperative services, or related field.
• High school Diploma/GED and 4 years of experience in healthcare operations in perioperative services or related field.
• 3 years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant perioperative environment supporting patient care and throughput.
• Oversee room turnovers, terminal cleaning, patient transport, equipment movement and readiness.
• Direct surgery support operations for the campus and off-site locations.
• Develop standardized work processes and partner with leaders to reduce variability and improve quality.
• Analyze performance data, lead improvement initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Expected pay for this position is $31.34 - $41.52/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager Surgery Support Services maintains a clean, safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant perioperative environment that supports patient care, surgical throughput, and quality outcomes. The Manager oversees operating and procedural room turnovers, terminal cleaning, patient transport, equipment movement and readiness, ancillary support functions, and environmental processes across perioperative services. This role directs surgery support service operations for the surgical campus and applicable off-site procedural locations. The Manager develops standardized work processes and partners with perioperative leaders to reduce variability and improve operational quality. Responsibilities also include analyzing performance and throughput data, leading improvement initiatives, supporting staff training and development, managing departmental resources, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), infection prevention, OSHA, and other regulatory standards, and advancing quality, safety, productivity, and service excellence.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Associate degree and 2 years of experience in healthcare operations, perioperative services, environmental services, patient transport, or related field.
• OR High school Diploma/GED and 4 years of experience in healthcare operations in healthcare support services, perioperative services, environmental services, or related field.
• 3 years of supervisory experience.

Other Skills/ Knowledge:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
• Knowledge of perioperative workflow, infection prevention practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and healthcare operational systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field.

Licensure/ Certification:

• Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP), or related healthcare leadership or environmental certification. CPR Certification through American Heart Association.

Other Skills/ Knowledge:

• Knowledge of Operating Room workflows, AORN guidelines, turnover optimization strategies, and surgical services quality metrics.
• Experience with staffing productivity management, patient throughput initiatives, and healthcare performance improvement methodologies.
• Ability to develop and manage quality measurement, operational performance, and regulatory compliance programs.
