Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking an Anesthesia Support Specialist in Mendota, IL to assist the anesthetist by maintaining and monitoring anesthesia equipment, managing supplies, and preparing the surgery room with required equipment and supplies according to established procedures.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least 6 months of healthcare experience; CPR/BLS certification is preferred, along with knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer/phone usage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months work experience in healthcare.
• Preferred: CPR/BLS certification, OR/surgery/procedural area knowledge, knowledge of medical terminology or coding rules, computer and phone experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the anesthetist by maintaining and monitoring anesthesia equipment and machines.
• Handle supply management and department cleaning.
• Prepare the surgery room with equipment and supplies according to procedures.
• Follow AORN standards and recommended practices.
• Assist in cleaning and preparing the surgery and procedural rooms and managing anesthesia equipment.

Expected pay for this position is $17.66 - $19.63/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Anesthesia Support Specialist assists the anesthetist by performing various tasks, including the maintenance and monitoring of anesthesia equipment and machines, supply management, department cleaning, and preparation of the surgery room with equipment and supplies according to established procedures. Follows and understand the standards and recommended practices according to the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN). The Anesthesia Support Specialist assists in cleaning and preparing the surgery room and procedural room in addition to managing the care of the anesthesia equipment.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma/ GED.

Experience: 6 months work experience in HealthCare.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensure/Certifications: American Heart Association CPR/basic life support (BLS) Experience: 6 mos. operating room/surgery/procedural area Knowledge of medical terminology or coding rules Other requirements/information: Computer and phone experience.
