Job summary

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. in Hazel Park, MI, is seeking an experienced HR leader to drive employee relations, recruitment, onboarding and retention initiatives across a regional footprint.

The role partners with site leaders on workforce planning, coaches managers on discipline and performance, develops communications and training, and champions continuous improvement of HR processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, business, or equivalent.
• Minimum seven years of HR experience.
• Prior employee relations experience; manufacturing industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure consistent application of HR systems and initiatives across region (ER, recruitment, onboarding, retention).
• Partner with site leaders on workforce planning and development.
• Advise managers on discipline, investigations, and performance calibrations.
• Develop communications and deliver HR training for managers and staff.
• Oversee recruitment for hourly, salaried, students, and temporary workers.
• Assist with performance management and calibrations.
• Collaborate to improve HR processes and programs.
• Manage duties including interviewing, hiring, coaching, budgeting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. Ensures the consist application of human resources systems and process and implementation of initiatives for an assigned region including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and retention programs.
2. Partners with site leaders to address workforce planning and development needs.
3. Oversees and/or completes generalist duties to advise managers on both strategic and tactical plans which may include: coaching and support related to any employee discipline; conducting internal investigations, and facilitating workforce planning execution.
4. Develops and delivers written communications and presentations to communicate concepts related to managers and employees; develops and conducts training and presentations.
5. Oversees recruiting for hourly, salaried exempt and nonexempt employees, students, and temporary workers.
6. Assists employees and managers in developing goals and objectives and assists with performance management processes including leading calibrations.
7. Collaborates within human resources to develop, document and recommend continuous improvement of HR processes, procedures or programs to deliver innovative solutions.
8. Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; department budget.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Skills Requirements

• Comprehensive knowledge of principles & practices of Human Resources HR regulations and compliance.
• Demonstrated skills in employee relations w/ strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and use sound judgment in decision making; demonstrated ability to partner and influence at all levels in the business and to be viewed as a credible, valuable source of information and integral part of management team.
• Excellent change management skills.
• Strong organization and time management/project management skills necessary to prioritize and oversee project or team with multiple assignments and to meet set deadlines; ability to react quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Strong communication skills to facilitate work with diverse groups of employees.
• Solid computer skills; understanding of all interfaces impacting HR function administration.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, business, or equivalent education and experience.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum seven years of Human Resources experience.
• Prior experience in employee relations required. Manufacturing industry experience highly preferred.
